The True Testament
The Marcionite Bible and the Original Faith Restored
The True Testament is a critical restoration of the oldest known Christian Bible—the canon compiled by Marcion of Sinope around 140 CE, decades before any "New Testament" existed in its familiar form. It recovers the Evangelion and the Apostolikon from the writings of the church fathers who quoted these scriptures in order to refute them, inadvertently preserving the very texts they sought to destroy. Where later orthodoxy reshaped Christianity around law, judgment, and the creator-god of the Old Testament, the True Testament restores the original message—a faith rooted in grace, freedom, and the mercy of a God unknown to the world until Christ appeared.
This is not a paraphrase, devotional rewrite, or academic exercise. The True Testament is a disciplined textual reconstruction rendered in clear modern English, built from patristic witnesses—Tertullian, Epiphanius, Adamantius—alongside early Latin and Syriac evidence, ancient manuscript traditions, and modern critical scholarship. The result is the first scholarly edition of the Marcionite scriptures designed not for the academy, but for everyday readers and worshiping communities.

The True Testament stands apart from other reconstructions. Unlike academic editions that remain neutral on Marcionite priority or retain orthodox terminology, this translation takes a clear position: the Marcionite text is the earliest witness, and its language must be restored on its own terms. Every word choice is grounded in the patristic evidence and the theology of the original community. The True Testament is a living scripture—the text read in daily devotion, taught in worship, and studied by those preparing for ministry within the Marcionite Assembly.
"For Marcion laid it down that there is one Gospel, and that only."
— Tertullian, Against Marcion, IV.2
W. C. Muenchow IV is the founder of the True Testament Marcionite Assembly, part of the Marcionite Assembly International Synod, and lead translator of the True Testament scriptures. Drawing from patristic sources, ancient manuscripts, and decades of scholarly research, he has reconstructed the earliest Christian canon for modern readers and built a living community of faith around it—restoring what was lost to ecclesiastical revision and theological harmonization.
